Mark Your Calendars for Important October Dates

• Christopher Columbus Sail-a-thon on Friday, October 10th.  (Please check your child's blue folder tomorrow for more details.)
• No school on Monday, October 13th - Columbus Day
• Field Trip to the Scamman Farm Corn Maze is Friday, October 17th.  A permission slip will be sent home this week with more details.
• Picture Retakes are Tuesday, October 28th.
• Early Release on October 29th- Dismissal at 12:50
• Fall Festival - Friday, October 31st.  We will need some parent volunteers!  Stay tuned for more details...

Starfish Learning Apps:

As the school year continues, I will try to keep you informed with apps that we use in the classroom and in our related arts classes.  If you have access to a device, please feel free to add these apps.  Some of these apps do cost money.  It is common with children's apps to have a free and paid version of the app.

So far this year we have used:

1. Everyday Mathematics Squeeze (number line math game)

2. Everyday Mathematics Top-It (Card game to practice adding numbers, and comparing numbers)

3. Tap Typing (This App was used with Mr. Gagnon in the maker lab today.  It will also be added to our classroom set of IPADS to be used in the classroom as well)

4. Shadow Puppet (This is a storytelling app that allows students to take pictures of their work and record their voice over the pictures)  We are using this app currently to tell number stories but it could also be used to practice reading. 

5. Any Weather App:( We have ben using Weather Channel App to check the weather and graph the temperature each day.  The kids seem to be interested in reading the temperature and making comparisons between days.)
