We have a busy few weeks ahead of us! We can't wait for our field trip to Stratham Hill Park, Field Day, 1st grade mall, End of the year slideshow, Friendly Community Helper Day, and so much more!
Please continue to look back into my old posts for important dates/times for upcoming events!
We are looking forward to our Grand Lunch visitors on Monday for lunch and recess. It would be helpful if you could send me a quick email if your child will not be expected a visitor on Monday. This way I can make sure we find a buddy starfish to sit with on this day.
WOW! Thank you all for your wonderful donations to help make wonderful things happen for our children at SMS! The PTO's silent auction raised nearly $3,000.00!
We have been focusing on long vowel patterns in our word sorts. As a class we have been tapping and blending long vowel words with a magic e. As you are reading with your child, you can prompt them by saying, "that word has a magic e that makes the vowel say its name"
We used tic-tac-toe boards with our sort words during word study.

Here's some of the learning activities we have done this week:
- Started recording end of the year reflection videos with Mr. G' special recording equipment
-Read The Elastic Brain. Talked about how important mistakes are for learning and growing. It's okay to feel uncomfortable with your learning. This is what helps me to grow stronger
-We had a special visit from Miss Sara and Sam from Wiggin Memorial Library to talk about summer events and summer reading program. You can pick up your summer reading materials beginning June 11th! There was a yellow/lime green (I can't remember!) flyer that came home this week. There are some wonderful opportunities for your child this summer all around Stratham.
-Continued to have class meetings about spreading kindness- we earned many Oceans of Kindness this week!
-Learned about our Starfish of the Week: Gracie
-Played some math games to review addition, subtraction, counting on the number grid, and odd/even numbers
-Read and discussed the main character Hank in Here's Hank
-Used editing markers in our series writing. We looked to add uppercase letters, punctuation, and talking marks when our characters were talking in our books
-Made volunteer appreciation cards to for our school assembly on June 15.
