A Beautiful Day to Celebrate Our Community
We had such an amazing time at the Stratham 300th Anniversary Parade! It was great to see so many Starfish marching with us and cheering us along the way!
There were also lots of other starfish marching in the parade with other groups such as cub scouts, girl scouts, and the Wiggin Memorial Library. If anyone has any other pictures they took that they would like to add to the post, please send them along to Mrs. Murphy!
To top it all off, our "Flotilla" depicting all the schools that have been in Stratham over the last 300 years won 1st place in the float contest! Congratulations to the students at SMS!
Pete the Cat
We are so excited to see Pete the Cat on stage tomorrow at the Portsmouth Music Hall. We read many of Pete's stories today, checked out the Pete the Cat website, and played Pete the Cat Bingo!
If you would like to check out Pete the Cat's Website, please click on the link below. It has many videos, coloring pages, and activities to check out as a family!

Writing like Mentor Authors: Mo Willems
This Starfish are diving in to Mo Willems' writing craft. They are completely engaged during independent writing to the point I feel bad to stop them to eat snack! We have been enjoying sharing our writing in partnerships and as a whole class. Some of the writing elements that we have focused on include speech bubbles, illustrations to match the character's feelings, writing voice, and flow of story writing to include a beginning, middle, and end.
This week we are taking a look at Mo Willems' punctuation marks in his stories. The kids will begin to add question marks, exclamation marks, and ellipses to their writing. We will soon be exploring Mo Willems' Elephant and Piggie stories and look forward to new writing ideas.
Math Centers in the Starfish Classroom
We played Top-It with Partners. This game helps the Starfish determine which number is greater.
We explored Geo-Boards as one of our math centers
We added a new level to our Top-it game this afternoon. We played Ten Frame Top-It to practice recognizing patterns and combinations of numbers.
Classroom Wishlist
We are looking for a few items for our classroom
