Starfish Gazette-October 6, 2015

What's New?


-Learned how to solve number stories

-Worked on procedures of doing our first word sort 
-Practiced counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's
-Learned the counting on strategy to help with addition facts
-Added color poems to our Poem and Song journal for reading fluency 
-Continued to practice "Good Reading Habits" during Readers' Workshop
-We have been working on rereading with a smooth voice and scooping up words into phrases
-Continue to learn how scientists record in science journals.  We did an experiment with apples to practice using our senses and ask questions.

-What did you learn at bus evacuation?
-Why did Mrs. Murphy use spoons during Reader's Workshop?
-What is your job this week?
-Who came in to help with math centers? What game did you play at her center?
-What pumpkin project did you make during centers?  Where is it hanging in your classroom?
-Can you tell me the difference between tall letters, small letters, letters that fall?
-What are you writing about during writer's workshop? What is your small moment story?
-Can you tell me how to do a speed sort?
