Scientists at Work
Scientists Learn and Explore Light
Our group of scientists started a new unit of understanding light and shadows last week.
Today the Starfish explored how light behaves with different types of materials.
Questions we asked during our experiment? Are the materials allowing all the light to shine through? partial light? Is the light blocked completely? Is the light being redirected
We shined the flashlight on a mirror, wax paper, wood, cardboard, a CD, reflective tape, tissue paper, clear plastic wrap, foil, and a clear page protector.
As we continue tomorrow and into the next few weeks, the children will begin an exploration of shadows. They will begin to observe shadows outdoors and indoors. They will explore how shadows change shape/size and how they change throughout the day.

We are looking for flashlights from your homes to use in our experiments for the next 2 weeks. These flashlights could include head flashlights. Please make sure your child's name is marked on the flashlight!
